Bing Dian, whose home town is Xiangyang City in China's Hubei Province, is now based in Canada. He is president of the Chinese Language Scientific Research Institute. He has long engaged in the research of languages and lexicography as well as the promotion of Chinese language overseas. His works include Chinese Language Reunification Scheme, Chinese Language Romanization Scheme, <>Gong's Phonetic Symbols, etc.

Both in China and overseas, Gong owns patents of a series of languages, dictionaries and other inventions, including Chinese Language Romanization Scheme, which was patented in America (Patent No: US 7398199).
